Can you identify this Rifle

Post by WrenchConley »

My dad had thisbrifle growing up. Hes since passed and the rifle was sold many moons ago to who knows who. Im feeling sentimental and im considering trying to build a replica of his gun for my collection. I know that this rifle was chambered in .270 winchester. I can tell from the pics theres no checkering so im thinking it wasn't a 700 model. My guess is sportsman 78 or a 721. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance https://photos.app.goo.gl/gbf5QGpM7u8QsJDBA

Nice sentimental thought. The front sight tells me 721 and not 78. I believe I can make out the rear sight barrel boss with the dovetail sight removed.

I'm leaning toward the 721 also. The transition of the top of the stock at the forearm to the bottom of the ejection port looks 721ish.
