Ok I will do that. I’m having a hard time navigating through the site. It’s in the A section and in 1924?

According to the old factory ledger, the receiver with the serial number 270075 was put in work during November 1923. Should be a two-letter date code on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. Is the barrel serial numbered to the gun?

Researcher, thank you. i will check tonight. But off recollection I didn't see any 2 letters on the side. Not 100% sure the barrel is supposed to be with the gun. How would i check that? I'll break the gun down soon and get a better understanding of that.
appreciate the help!

Hi, I have a 12 gauge over and under Im trying to determine a model on and value. It is a marlin as I said, over and under, and by the trigger or under it reads H509. Thats the only number I can see. Any help? Or what/where I should look?

As best that I can recall, Marlin started using a S/N letter prefix in 1940 with A. There was little to no civilian production during the War years - so a H prefix should/may indicate your O/U first saw service in 1951 or 1952.

In the mid-1930s Sears, Roebuck & Co. got a patent for an over-under shotgun and struck a deal with Marlin to build it. Marlin also got to market it under their own name. A 1937 Marlin folder introducing the Model 90 --

By the early 1940s they offered a fancier Skeet model and a small-frame version in .410-bore and combination versions --

The small-frame didn't reappear after WW-II but the 12-, 16- and 20-gauges continued to about 1959.
