rem titanium rifle question
rem titanium rifle question
have a chance to buy a rem 700 titanium rifle for well under 500.00 chambered in 300 short mag.no interest in this caliber anywhere as price reflects.would like to rebarrel it in a 6mm but cant due to bolt face size. my question is will rem refit this action with a usuable and anyone have a guess as to cost?
Re: rem titanium rifle question
Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but what not call or e-mail Remington??? Then you would have definitive, up to date info. Our info might be old and involve something they don't do any more.

Re: rem titanium rifle question
Why not just buy a 6mm and have a correct gun and not something that is altered. Your just asking for a caliber that is out there for you too buy and not a real scarce or custom shop caliber. The 6mm is an EXCELLENT caliber you would just be going through a lot of trouble for no big gain. I know the titanium rifle is lighter< but not that much lighter to make it worth the cost. In my OPINION.
Re: rem titanium rifle question
already have inquired to rem.awaiting reply.have done the math and if the bolt can be replaced at a "reasonable"price, will have a rem 700 titanium rifle for only slightly more than a new off the shelf rem 700.key is if and how much to change. thanks for both replies.
