Slotted screw head imprint over serial #

Post by jaygee »

Hello all.
I have a Model .341 .22 rifle that my dad bought for me when I was 8 y.o.I'm now 80 y.o. I have no intention of ever selling it.
Question is about the date of manufacture. It shows the first letter as an "R" for a month of Nov. But the second letter for the year has an imprinted slotted screw head over it. That letter looks like it may be an "E" for 1936.
Does anyone know what the slotted screw head imprint means ?

The symbol is super likely the assembler. Due to the limited space and the fact that the date code letters are stamped separately, the assembler and year date letter overlapped.
