In 1958, my father's CO gave him the subject rifle for a job well done; it was one of his cherished possessions. In 1964, at the age of 4 years old, I accidentally stepped on the rifle's forend and broke the aft-starboard section off...
Today, when visiting him I found that rifle in his attic storage where it has been for many decades, and offered to right the wrong from 58 years ago. He acquiesced with one stipulation; I could borrow it to fix the forend, clean & lube the workings, and sight it in, but then must return it and take him to the range to confirm that all is well! Outstanding. He had a big grin on his face!
That said, I have seen a couple 760 BDL forends on eBay, but all note as for 30-06. Are these rifle forends caliber-specific? Appreciate your guidance.
If you can point me in the proper direction for an original or quality replacement, I would very much appreciate it. Pictures attached.
Thanks & regards, Mike

Mike,
You might consider having the broken forearm repaired. I have repaired stocks that were missing pieces.
Do you still have the missing piece?

The 270 and 30-06 share the same brass - the 270 is a necked down version of the 30-06. I don't see why the fore end should differ.

Out of curiosity, on the receiver, where 760 is stamped, is BDL stamped after that?
