Does anyone have photos of an 1899 Carbine or information on them?
According to Gene's book there were less than 50 made. Here's some photos of mine. I think it is the highest known SN.

Mighty nice looking but it appears to be a custom job. Never seen an original Lee with a stock anywhere near that. I like it though.

Thanks Eddie. I tend to agree with you about the stock not looking like others I've seen and is likely custom. That's part of the reason I'm hoping to find photos of others.

I looked the other day for pictures of a carbine and everything that came up was the rifle . I would expect the carbine to look much like the rifle and that stock is not even close. I'd enjoy it for what it is , a great looking old school hunting rifle.

Here is a link to an auction for what is claimed to be an original carbine. in military configuration. Still looking for a picture of a civilian version .

Thanks for the link Eddie. i had seen that Cuban contract carbine. It's about the best photo i've seen of a carbine. I don't know if the civilian carbines had the same stock as the military or not.
I've got the 1905 Remington Catalogue and it mentions the carbine but doesn't have a photo. The stock on mine does have some of the characteristics of the "special" version of the rifle. 5 point checkering towards the action and a grip cap. But I still suspect this stock was a replacement at some point. Let me know if you find something on the carbine. Would love to see another one.
