Remington 14????

I recently purchased a remington 14 at a local gun show. The s/n is C655** i would appreciate it if anyone could give me a manafacture date? After a thorough cleaning i have noticed there is a bit of a wiggle between the two halfs of the gun, however it appears that the metal to metal fit is reasonably tight. I tightened the take down screw as much as possible without damaging it. I am just wondering if this is common with a gun of this age and style.

I inspected all of the groves where the two halfs come together and they seam to be fine. There are no dents or blemishes that are noticeable. The wiggle i mentioned is only noticed when the gun is held by the stock and shaken back and fourth. The gap seams to be the section where the peep sight holes are and the reciever meet, it is not huge but there is about a 1/64 of an inch gap.
