My First Remington Rolling Block , well sort of....

Thanks for letting me join. I got involved with owning and shooting breech loading single shot rifles a little over (2) years ago, my first was an 1884 Springfield Trapdoor (antique) subsequent to that I acquired a handful of reproductions Winchester 1885 Highwall (Uberti), 1874 Sharps Sporter (Pedersoli) and 1873 Remington Rolling Block (Navy Arms/Pedersoli) these are all chambered in 45-70 Gov't. Here's a recent pic of my reproduction rolling block.

This week I wound up with, based on the markings on the receiver, a 1881 Spanish Oviedo Rolling Block or at least the receiver. This is obviously someone's unfinished project gun as it has a 30" 45-70 octagon barrel, and the forearm looks like its from a heavy target rifle. The butt plate is missing and so is the extractor. However the price was right so I decided to give it a go. Now that I have a 'real' Remington obviously I had to join this forum. Here some pics, hopefully she will look a lot different in a couple of months.
