Remington 1875 information
Remington 1875 information
I have a Remington 1875 revolver that I am looking to get more information on. From what I know and based on the stamping it was manufactured after 1882. I know the serial numbers are inaccurate and were produced in batches but as you see it reads 775 and is a 44 caliber. Any more information than this or tips on how to get that information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Remington 1875 information
Hi Jr 47,
Does the number on the tab of the trigger guard match the frame? There should also be a number on the tab of the loading gate. There were about 25K to 30K model 75s made. They were made from 1875 to 1886. The first 16k were sequentially numbered, but after that batch numbers were used. Each batch was numbered from 1 to the end of the batch. We do not know how many batches were made, how many may be in a batch, or when they were made.
From the photo of the right side, it appears that the ejector housing has not been slightly rebated to allow for easier cylinder removal. That indicates a first version. The 44 number on the trigger guard indicates a third version, and it means that the caliber is 44-40. The front sight is a replacement.
When Bill T gets back from hunting he may be able to add more info.
