Remington New Model Pocket Revolver cartridge conversions

Haven't seen this one before and ran across one a few days ago.

I knew that they made conversions on model 1858, but also from the pocket models to .32 (rimfire i suppose?).

Mr. Flaydermans guide says that pocket was made c. 1863-1873, but just states that there was factory conversion to breech-loading metallic cartridge .32 cal. But no mention when those conversions were made, starting-ending? After 1873 or already during that period?

Hi Rem1858,

Rem converted, or made conversion versions of all their percussion models beginning in 1873 when the Rollin White patent finally ended. Before that they did make conversions of some models, but every manufacturer had to wait until the courts ruled on the White patent. After Remington was taken over in 1888, they stopped all pistol manufacturing except for the Double Derringer, and the 1888 and 1890 revolvers. That should place the date between 1873 and 1888.
