514 Bolt Disassembly
514 Bolt Disassembly
Could someone from the membership list for me a step by step procedure for deep cleaning of a 514 bolt. I have no formal manuals (am looking for one though) and I don't want to start the process without having an idea first of the procedure. I am sure it probably is straight forward for most of you guys but I didn't want to get started and then get hung up on something quirky. Your responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Richard.
Re: 514 Bolt Disassembly
There is no reason to take that bolt apart.
Nothing more than a squirt or two of Hoppe's #9 or WD 40 or a shot or two of Kerosene is all that is needed to clean and lubricate it.
You risk doing more damage than good taking it apart.
Sorry for the offense - if any of you old ARMY guys out there - thinks that everything has to be field stripped and cleaned - every time you fire your weapon.
But unless you are crawling around on your hands and knees, no modern firearm gets enough dirt in the bolt to necessitate taking it apart and cleaning it.
