Need info on double barrel 10 gauge

Post by davec »

A few years ago my grandpa gave me a and old remington 10 gauge double barrel. It is a break action with the barrels fully engraved. I can find the number 12947 on all parts of the gun, and the word "Patent" below it the date Aug 8. 1871 and below that the date Apr 16, 1872. I am looking for a date of this gun and a model number. If this helps I also see the numbers 152 and 62 engraved on the gun as well.
Any information can help.
Thank you

I break the action open by sliding it to the right, the engraving on the top is E. Remington and sons. The hammers and slide action have etchings on the top to better grip them, there is checkering on the wrist area of the gun. I am not sure what you mean about Damascus steel but I guess the barrel isn't engraved but has designs down the whole thing.
I am deffenitly not a gun expert so I hope this answers your questions.
