Model 552 speedmaster
Model 552 speedmaster
I recently came to own a 552 speedmaster. Based on a internet search I think I have determined that it was made in 1960. The receiver is made of aluminum and the black outer coating is missing over a large area. How can that be restored to the black finish that it once had? Also, the barrel does not look like it was blued but rather has a brown (not rust) finish. Or am I just seeing the effects of 48 years of neglect?

Do an internet search and find a company that you would trust to restore your rifle for you.
Just keep in mind that todays shop rates are high enough that you might end up spending more money to restore it than what it is worth - in origional condition - if you bought one at a gun show in Mint Condition!
