I have a model 10 with an 18 1/2" approximate length barrel. I am wondering if this length was factory or converted.
left side of barrel stamped CYL and a B with a circle around it
top model 10-a Remington arms union metallic etc.
right side 153064 and R.P. with a circle around it
the receiver is stamped U and 193290
From what I've gathered so far it seems the receiver was made in august 1920 but the barrel was pre 1919?
model 10 barrel length question
Re: model 10 barrel length question
It's not uncommon to find that some genius butchered a old Remington shotgun of that age.
The Model 10 was made in a plain version from 1907 to 1929.
The stock lenght of barrel was 26 - 32 inches.
They were a good old shotgun.

Re: model 10 barrel length question
Do the stamps on the barrel mean anything? could the factory have shortened the barrel. It looks really clean and the bead was re-installed.
My Grandpa's brother used it for hunting ruffed grouse in the north woods of Michigan. None of us in the family are really shotgunners, so we were thinking of selling it, does the short barrel decrease the resale?
