I have an older Remington Mod 700 serial # 70xxx with the following on the barrel: 5 PK 58. I assume that it was built in June 1963 (PK) but what does the 5 that precedes PK mean and what does 58 mean?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Barrel code information for Remington Mod 700
Ussually the 5 stands for a employee sale. Someone as a employee of Remington purchased the gun directly. A lot of times in this situation they had something just a little differant done to the rifle. Maybe differant wood or barrel leingth, but that is not always the case. If possible send some pictures.
