received as a gift (get this outta my house..) sure fine.
i've cleaned out all the old oil and degreased the trigger group w/o taking it apart as i don't have any good instructions.
the barrel is 19" long, for shorts only, marked Remington but without any model number. all remmie 24's i've seen were marked as such. the barrel forward of the rear sight is marked remington firearms made in usa browning.
schnabel foreend, ejection deflector, loads from the side of the buttstock.
i googled for mod 24 but couldn't find any 'free' online manuals, disassembly instructions, or photos that look just like mine.
i have the nra guide to firearm assembly and under the browning cal.22 rifle that has many similarities but varies in the trigger group.
i am an open vessel for any information, ideas, help, breakdown instructions, and source of replacement parts.
thanks alot,
joe

Re: .22 semi rifle, what is it?
You have a Remington model 24. An early one since you say its a 22 short only. Probably whats throwing you off with other pictures is that you have a shell deflector and most photos dont. Shell deflectors are desirable among 24 collectors. Great gun.

Yours is an early M/24. The schnabel fore-end identifies it as such. It is significantly different than the Browning or Rem Model 241. The shell deflector can be easily removed without tools. Just hold the action open slightly and snap it out. The take-down operation is even easier. Just push the button and twist. You can't hurt anything. It will go back together (really!).
