My interest in Remmingtons is confined to Rolling Blocks. Up to now this has been rifles but recently I purchased a Model 1971 Army pistol and I have some questions.....
What section of the army were they issued to?
Why did they order them in the first place?
Where can I find a book covering them?

The best resource is Remington Rolling Block Pistols by Jerry Landskron. You can get a copy from Amazon for $93. The "why did they order them" is answered in the book but I know of no reference which lists the units they to which were issued if they were issued.
