Scope not working on Remington 597

I purchased a Remington 597 w/scope at Academy Sporting Goods yesterday-got a real good price. Took it out to the range today to sight in the scope-couldn't do it. The windage adjustment knob would not move the reticle either left or right no matter how many clicks I turned it. The gun was shooting about 5-6" to the right-no matter how many clicks I turned the knob, the gun continued shooting to the right. I plan on calling Remington in the morning to see if they will replace it. Will Remington replace the scope on this gun based on the experience of the members of this forum? Thanks in advance?

Since no one took the time to answer my question, I will answer it myself. I am happy to report that Remington is shipping me a new scope!!!

The date and time of your posts are 10:37 PM and 8:56 AM (the next morning). Sorry we didn't "Take the time" to answer your question overnight.... Also it would have helped if you had mentioned whether the rifle was new or used, and if the scope was furnished by Remington.

I'm glad Rem is sending you a new scope, but please cut us a little slack on your expectations on free advise.
