Nylon 66 Black Diamond

Post by jhasbrouck »

Did the Black Diamond version of the 66 have two different metal finishes? I've seen a blued shiny finish and a matte finish that looks more grey than black. Seems the matte finish was on later production guns. Can't find much info about this. Checked the nylon gun forums but didn't find info about when and why the finish was changed. Is there a difference in value between the two? Also what were the "Brazilian" imports? Saw brief mention of these on a forum.

The Brazilian imports were made by CBC in San Paulo. Remington provided tooling and expertise to CBC.The one most often seen in the U.S. is the GR-8 Black Beauty which resembles the Nylon 66, but many parts do not interchange. Production started in the mid-1960s. The CBC rifles are covered in depth on pages 342, 243 & 344 in our book.

Thanks for the reply! What's the title of your book? I'm unfamiliar with it.
