I'll try to help..Remingon New Model Pocket Revolver...31 cal cap and ball made from approx 1863 till 1873. 5 shot in barrel lengths of 3, 3 1/2, 4 and 4 1/2. inches. Blue with case-hardened hammer and wooden stocks, most common. Also available in all Nickel and with Nickel frame and the rest blue. 3 and 3 1/2 inch barrel length most common. Very early models (under 150 serial #) had brass frames. Serial #'s atarted with "1" and on up to approx 25000 which included those produced as cartridge. The 32 cal cartridge models were produced till approx 1888. Collectors classify them as 3 types, 1st with brass frame, 2nd with brass trigger guard and 3rd all steel. If yours is cartridge it sounds like the 3rd type with 3 1/2" barrel, made in the early to mid 1880's .Let me know if this helps....Jim
