OH Goody! A restoration project............your are in deep doo doo!
First of all the Model 14R (carbine) uses the same magazine tube as does the rifle. That would be the good news, the bad news is that for "whatever" reason some tubes don't fit some action bars. There is about a one in three chance you will find one that will readily screw right in but to lessen the odds in your favor make sure the one you purchase has a "patent date" on the end, they are far more consistent. You also need to make sure that it is not marked "25" or "35" and most after-market ones that don't have the patent date don't fit worth a darn.
I have a pretty good assortment of magazine tubes but would need your action bar to make sure it threads.
I must tell you that unless you have a LOT of spare parts, the restoration of a single gun like yours can be very taxing/expensive because as stated in my other postings on this site.................the parts are NOT readily interchangeable.
Hope this helps!

Re: Model 14 R Magazine tube
The magazine screw will not interfere with the follower but any dent in the tube (including where the fore end screws come in contact with it) will cause problems. You could have an undersize follower.........and some other things could "possibly" be messed up.
I have no idea what you did to the magazine tube in an effort to make it right but it's obvious the follower is going too far forward which usually means a bad or damaged tube or as I stated above, an underzied follower. I don't have it in front of me so I can't see it but it could be both the tube/follower. It is quite probable that the person(s) that had it before you messed with the follower because of a dent in the tube, who knows! I have a feeling a lot of hands have been inside that 14R before you arrived...........and like yourself they tried to make it work with what they had available.
You are attempting to resussitate a piece that by your own words is in sorry shape by using/re-shaping those same sorry parts, that "probably" is not going to work.......and that is about as diplomatic as I get!
