MODELS 14/14-1/2/141/25 INFORMATION / RESOURCES

Post by nambujim »

I guess its fair to say that I seem to be "the guy" that can fix "most" Model 14 or 14-1/2 Rifles, an honor obtained because I have a whole lot of parts. You can read the Remington manuals, the article in the American Rifleman from some years back, and you end up pretty much where you began. Where you began was probably needing a replacement part that came in several variations so unless you have a drawer full of them its difficult.

I have told anybody and everybody that the parts variations are endless so it makes it really tough to find the one you need but that isn't the reason I am making this posting. The reason today is to suggest to any/all reading this that if you own a Model 14, Model 14-1/2, Model 141, or Model 25 (or the carbines made in these Models) you need to buy Ken Blauch's book.

Ken Blauch is my friend, he sure doesn't depend or need the income from his book sales, and with that I'll just say that HE is "The Godfather" of Model 14 information. It would be unfair not to mention the "other" major source pertaining to information on these rifles and that would be Tom Hemphill. Tom contributed a great deal of information to Ken's book and maintains a data base of serial numbers for all these models (14, 14.5, 141, & 25).

If you just have one (1) Model 14 or any of these you need to have Ken's book, it covers many of the variations, carbines, sights, manufactureing dates, and in general is the volume I pull out when I get phone calls. I had to laugh the other day when one of my customers called advising that he was sending me a rifle but added "there are some things about this rifle that don't coincide with Ken's book". I'm afraid that I got a bit "uppity" and went off saying again "no two of these rifles are alike, the changes to the parts was endless, and Ken's book would have to be several volumes to cover all the changes that were made over the years".

This small volume will address just about anything you want to know as it pertains to the basic rifle/variations, sights, production, and countless other things..............so get it, enjoy it, you will love it.

I don't give out phone numbers but send your check for $23 Delivered to:
(If you use my name he will probably charge you more)

Ken Blauch

Annville, PA 17003

If you have a rifle in any of these Models you need to provide details to Tom Hemphill for his data base which whould include serial, caliber, stock style, buttplate style, shell head style, barrel code, and anything else you can think of. Tom has forms you can use but just the basic information is needed to expand the "data base". Tom is a remarkly nice guy, my friend, and has helped hundreds of folks with Model 14 problems over the years. So send the info on your rifle (the serial will not be associated to your name) to:

Tom Hemphill
