Engraved Model 8 Mystery (to me)

The s.n. is stamped,not engraved. This means definite aftermarket engraving. The wood very different from any wood Remington ever used,esp on a grade gun. Somebody did a lot of work on this gun and the engraving looks very good. I have seen the block left out where the s.n. is on other aftermarket engraving. Still a very interesting gun. If it belonged to me i would replace the wood that was as close as possible to what would have been on the gun from the factory were it a grade gun.
