Model 1100 low serial number

Post by gbrooding »

Hello,

I just recently found this board, and have enjoyed reading the posts. My question... I have a Model 1100 that has a serial number of 1557 V. It was given to me by my grandfather along with the original purchase invoice. I know that the serial numbers started at 1001, so does this add any value to the gun at all? I would never sell it, and have used it for the last 25 years and love it, but was just curious if the low number means much?

Thanks,

Greg

A low serial number doesn't add to the value, in fact it may decrease the value if improvements were made to the gun in the years that followed. Jay Huber RSA

Thanks, Jay. When my grandpa originally bought the gun, he bought an additional barrel with a polychoke on it. This barrel has been used almost exclusively, and the original barrel has been in a case since purchase. No modifications have ever been made, nothing to ever really fix. It's been a great gun.

Thanks again,
Greg

I too have paid a premium for for a low serial number but mostly on an antique gun or a very limited production gun. Jay
