Remington 1900 with floating firing pins

Post by nhcrowshooter »

The gun is a circa 1907 Model 1900 12ga with ejectors, KE. The gun has floating firing pins rather than the firing pin being integral with the hammers. Would it be better to store the gun in fired condition (on snap caps) or does it matter?

Gun points and works great. I did notice it is very slightly loose when the forend is off the gun, is this normal or something to be concerned about? With the forearm in place gun is tight as a drum.

I am told the "MOD" stamping for choke (vs a number for pellet count) on the lug is unusual.

I shot the gun on the trapfield of my local gun club this past Wednesday. I broke a 25x25 on my first round with it and a 49x50 for the evening. To say the least I am very pleased with it. If this gun needs any work to be tightened up I will gladly pay whatever it costs :D

I am still really enjoying this gun! Went on a crow shoot this afternoon and I had a great day with it. In about 2 1/2 hours I shot 58 shells and downed 38 crows. There were several times I was loading and firing as rapidly as possible, the ejectors work great! I am a Parker guy at heart but IMO the Remington doubles are seriously under appreciated.

Glad you enjoy your 1900. Snap caps are always best. Your 1900 can be put away uncocked by the following. Before closing the EMPTY gun, depress both triggers and then close. By doing this, tension wii be removed from the main springs. Assuming your 1900 is operating correctly (and it looks like a good example) this should take care of putting the gun away uncocked. You might want try snap caps first just to make sure this feature is working.
