Howdy all:
I would like to know what the initials ADL, BDL and CDL stand for. I know the differences of all three...but not what the letters "stand for". Anyone know?
Would you consider the CDL to be an upgrade model to the BDL?
Thanks!
Jake
ADL,BDL,CDL Question
ADL and BDL go back to the 721 and 722 era.
They had
"A" grade
"A" grade (modified)
"A" grade (high comb, modified)
"AC" grade (checkering)
"B" grade (special wood and checkering)
"D" grade (Peerless)
"F" grade (Premier)
"ADL" grade
"ADL" grade (high comb) replaced the "AC"
"BDL" grade (high comb) replaced the "B"
Modified generally meant swivels included
DL meant deluxe
A, ADL grades were lower than B, BDL
D and F were quite fancy
Todays "CDL" = Classic Deluxe

Re: ADL,BDL,CDL Question
I now own 3 wood adl's...I like to collect them at $400 or less each.
I have a 6mmRem,a 270Win and a 7mmMag.
I also own a 2004 Classic 8x57 and a 742 6mmRem.A model 11 12ga circa 1928.
All good shooters of less than 1" moa.(except the shotgun)
I can't see paying a lot more for basically nothing different than nicer wood and free falling magazines.
I am never in a hurry to UNLOAD a rifle and the solid wood is stronger where it is not cut out for a magazine floorplate.
What's not to like?
It is still a Rem 700.
P.S. I also collect Win 670's for the same reasons!
