First, go here- http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/que ... arrelcodes . It comes from the home page of this site. Partway down there is a thumbnail of the barrel stamping location. Click where it says to enlarge it. An original rifle will have 4 symbols, some older ones having a double letter or number symbol. Factory repair firearms have 8 symbols. Yours reads as such as it has not been back to the factory:

U -final inspector

O -July

L -1964

33 -assembler

I think I saw it advertised in a 1961 Peterborough guns catalog.
