Would it hurt to refinish a 600 Mohawk?

I mean as far as collector value?I have one that is in good shape,but someone has put sling swivel holes in the stock and of course they are out of center and sloppy.The stock also has some slight nicks and scratches.

The collector value has already been hurt, but not killed. If the sling swivel holes are sloppy and you don't want to use the sling, I would remove the sling and fill the holes with wood putty. Unless you are very experienced in wood refinishing, I would leave the stock finish alone...
