i think you done good. any 22 that is safe and shoots decent for $175 is a deal. i had been looking for 22's for my boys for squirrel and found a nice rem 582 last fall at my LGS for $240 OTD. i put a cheap bushnell i had laying around on it and it shoots sweet. then a couple weeks ago i was at a gun show and found an early rem 581 with walnut stock and nice vintage redfield 3/4" scope in real nice shape and brought it home for $250. it shoots even better than the 582 and as good as my ruger 77/22 with aftermarket trigger and good glass. when looking for 22's i debated getting a new CZ or savage or ruger but really wanted something vintage. those old rem 22's are classics.
