Saw it at the Tulsa gunshow yesterday and it was bout 95% condition. Serial 29xxx so it was a first year gun. Chambered in 222 RMag. Dealer wanted $895 for it and didn't even blink. Wow! I thought he was about $300 or so too high so I passed on it. Paid $500 last year for a dead mint 65 Adl .243. Guess the older Rem 700's are finally moving up.
I don't agree. IMHO Gun shows are great for education and a good place to buy used firearms. You certainly lose nearly any hope of a guarantee, but I have been happy with nearly every item I have purchased at gun shows. And yes, I look them over pretty closely... Gun shops are also good.
Forgot in my first reply... A 700 CARBINE in triple deuce mag is a bit more rare than a standard length barrel .243 ADL. Is it worth $895? I don't know. I do know I've never seen one...
John
I have seen (or heard of) one 700 carbine ever. It was with a Eugene collector. I can not recall the calibre. 270 maybe. Only one. Id say they are rather rare indeed.
