There are three basic variations of the Model 31, the 1931 version, the 1934 version, and the 1941 version. The 1941 version with the trigger moved rearward for a better grip to trigger relationship. I like these later versions the best. Also with the 1941 versions the light alloy Model 31L versions were introduced, and these don't seem to be too well thought of. Remington's ribbed barrels were milled from the same steel as the barrel, nothing soldered or brazed, until the new post-WW-II models began appearing with the Model 11-48 and Sportsman 48 in 1948.
