Model 24 case extraction

I just inherited a Model 24. I fired it at the range last weekend, and about 4 times out of 10, the case would not extract properly, would often get caught up in the slide. Do I need an new extractor plunger spring?

I would start with a thorough cleaning/degreasing. Get all of the old gunk out of there.

You may find that another make of ammo might work better. Many 22LR arms are very sensitive to types of ammo.
