The symbol after the X is probably an inspector's mark. In the link I posted before, above the grid with the date codes, there's a diagram of what the marks indicate. This should be a larger image.

You have a first year (1909) Model 12-A. It's actually a Pre-Model 12. Rem didn't give their "New Repeater" a Model # until 1910. Some barrels were stamped with Model 12 starting in 1910 and some were not stamped until 1917. The RW stands for "Remington Works", the internal name for the factory.
