Early 30 Remington cartriges were marked 30-30 Rem untill Remington was forced to change the designation due to the 30-30 Winchester. I don't know much about the lever that was shown, but if it was made early in the 1900s I would say everything is OK.

I know, that's why I'm curious. never heard of a 30 Remington in a lever action.
This one is clearly marked "30-30 Remington"

Walt,

I didn't know the last one, never heard that, but now I've seen it, too!
Good information.

Thanks a ton,

Larry

EDIT: P.S., Don't forget the Savage 170 pump chambered in 35 Remington, as well as the Marlin 336, same caliber.

The original designation for the 30-30 Winchester cartridge was "30 WCF" (WCF meaning Winchester Center Fire). As I understand it, the term, "30-30", was coined by Marlin Firearms Company because they did not want to stamp any reference to the Winchester name on their Marlin rifles. Eventually, Winchester adopted the "30-30" designation, but early Winchester rifles so-chambered were indeed marked "30 WCF."

I have no idea how the term, "30-30 Remington", came about. This is the first reference to it that I have encountered.

Someone of greater knowledge, please correct me if any of my 'facts' are wrong.
