Hi. My father-in-law recently inherited a rifle that we cannot exactly identify. Below are the markings and description that I can provide:

Single Octagon Shaped Barrel
Black Powder
Total Length- 36.5"
Barrel Length- 22"

Your rifle is probably the No. 4 Rolling Block rifle chambered for .22RF. They were made between about 1890-1933. it is estimated that over 50,000 were made.
