Greetings!
- Trying to find info on this model gun-- 12 ga. pump, mod choke, serno U1634XX. The barrel is 22" and marked Model 10-A; the left side of receiver is marked with U.S. Ordnance flaming bomb; it has a few additional machined holes (one on mag tube and one on either side of the barrel/tube band near the receiver-- neither of these are found on a standard Mod 10-- possibly for bayonet lug and heatshield attaching points? The stock also looks as if it had a sling swivel at one time.
- I saw on the Rem website that Mod 10 riot and trench guns were produced around WWI-- Aynone out there know what I have? Value? Suggested reference material? Spare parts?
Model 10-A Riot or Trench Gun?
model 10-A info
Generally, "trench" guns had bayonet lugs and heat shields, while "riot" guns didn't. You should ask the guys at this sight; they eat, sleep, and breathe military shotguns:

Good luck.

Here's what I found about the grades:
No. 1 or A: Standard or Field
No. 2 or B: Special
No. 3 or C: Trap
No. 4 or D: Tournament
No. 5 or E: Expert
No. 6 or F: Premier
No. 0: Riot Grade
I believe dating info for your serial can be found elsewhere on this site. 22" bbl would lend me to believe it's not a hunting gun, as my model 10 has a 28 1/2" bbl (Dad refers to it as the "goose gun"). However, the grade designation doesn't match up. It may have had a swapped bbl?

I just noticed the Manufacture records; it's missing a lot of pages. The first listing is Sept 30, 1919, SN: 172939.

Looks like they were doing about 2000 guns per month, so that should still put your gun in the early 1919 era... Maybe May/June? Considering the Treaty of Versailles was signed June 28, 1919, there is a possibility your gun saw action.
