Remington 121 and 12
Remington 121 and 12
I would like to know if there is a book or any printed material with information on the model 121 and model 12. I am particularly interested in the high end guns that were engraved etc. Somewhere the word 'peerless' was used for these type of guns. Would appreciate info on where to get info on these two models. Thanks, Bob

Bob:
Roy Marcot & I will have a book covering all Remington 22 rifles out early next year. As to the high grades, there are a few out there yet, but you will have to find them before I do... It's best to check at good gun shops and gun shows, but beware... Many have engraving not done by Remington. The quality of the engraving and wood to metal fit should be examined very carefully. Good luck!!!

Remington 121 and 12
John. Please let me know how to contact you or you may contact me at bweisele@yahoo. Thanks for your info, this is a field that I would like to explore. Have collected 1890 Winchesters for years and understand the possibility of fakes. Thanks again. Bob Eisele
Gentlemen-
I just acquired a Remington Model 12 and have a question. The gun has an octagon barrel. When I took it apart to clean it - I noted on the underside of the barrel there are two rows of machined 'hash marks' side by side on the bottom barrel flat. They are somewhat deep in the metal.
Do any of you know what purpose these are there for?
Thanks-
Sky C.

TTT...
Also wondering about the groups experience with feeding reliability. The gun I have acquired is acting very tempermental - mostly rejects feeding HP ammo at all and one must work the action "just-so" even when using RN ammo. I'm wondering if this is normal for the Remington design or if perhaps I have something worn or out of adjustment that needs tending to.

Re: M/12 & 121
Please add me to your growing lists of potential customers. I have long anticipated a comprensive book regarding Remington's .22's. Eugene Myszkowski's "Remington Autoloading & Pump-Action Rifles", which I have just covers centerfires, but does have a section regarding codes and proofs that I have found helpful.gydemate wrote:Bob:

I hope your book will touch on Remingtons 550 series of rifles and lend some light on the rather scace 550-P and 550-1P. Thanks - Another Bob rsvmgb@aol.com
Model 12s
Bob & Skye:
Bob first. You and I have spoken many times. It sounds like I can't get you totally away from the 90s. Stan is still fixed on them as well.. My e-mail is gydemate@aol.com.
Skye: I have not had any feeding problems with my 12s and I have shot several of them quite a few times. It sounds like you have a worn part somewhere. I'm getting a little better at fixing the 12s, but can't help you with feeding.
The book should be available in February.

John-
Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll need to carefully study the feeding and hopefully can compare to a rifle in better working order to see where there may be differences.
Appreciate the feedback. I was figuring that the rifles couldn't be as fussy about feeding as what I'm experiencing.
Best regards-
