Info on rolling block Pistol-shotgun "Bankguard model&q

Post by the Hopster »

Dear folks,

I have the chance of taking over a rolling block pistol-shotgun "Bankguard Model" in 20 gauge. I know that this weapon in the USA is on the Curio's and Relics list and must be registered at the BATF. However, here in Europe we do not make that fine distinction.

The question I have is the following: I know that these pistol-shotguns were assembled in the 1920's using existing rolling block actions which had been imported. However, does anyone know which model actions were used for making these pistol-shotguns? Are they only suitable for blackpowder (models 1-3) or are they the later actions (number 4-7) which are suitable for Nitro?

Also, how can you tell by markings on the actions from which period the actions are?

Sincerely yours,
