Remington Nylon 66's - Made in Canada

Post by Richard G Earl »

Hi Everyone! I'm getting reports of Nylon 66's in the Apache Black configuration, having been made in Canada, and stamped or engraved accordingly

Can anyone shed any light on this please? Including where they were made in Canada and the dates of manufacture?

Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help on this subject

Very Best Regards

Canadian Nylons

Post by John Gyde »

Richard:

In the 1960s (exact dates unknown) Remington exported parts to Canada that were assembled there for the Canadian market. I believe this was done because it was easier in Canada to have parts imported rather than entire firearms. Several models were made there including the N/66 and the N/76. There were several slightly different barrel stampings, but the ones I have seen all are stamped MADE IN CANADA on the barrel. They are not often seen in the U.S.

Richard:

I own two Remington Nylons that came out of Canada. Both are marked "made in Canada" on the barrel. One is a Nylon N-66MB and the other a Nylon N-76MB.

I've also heard of an N-66AB that was marked, "made in Canada".

Remington Nylon 66's - Made in Canada

Hi!
Many thanks for that combined information, there are more N-66 derivatives than I previously thought, some 18-20 so far, and the list keeps growing! At present, I have my eyes on a "Made in Canada Apache Black", coming available here in the Vancouver Lower Mainland.

The research so far is telling me that N-66's and derivatives were assembled by a company somewhere close to Windsor Ontario, just across the US border from Detroit, but so far no more information.

If Made in Canada N-66's become available down your way, I would be very interested in acquiring them.

Very Best Regards
