remington 11 military issue

Hi all:

I am looking for information on my Remington Model 11 Military Finish complete with bird scene.
I thought it was a 1928 according to some gun shop guys but the serial is 478XXX which seems to make it later. Is there any site to check on this or is Remington the best source of dating?
I do want to sell it. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for
a retailer or an auction house or a site. I really don't want it leaving my hands without
cash in hand.
And since I am skilled at none of this, I would appreciate any and all tips.

In your situation I would see if a gunshop in my area would sell it on comission.
What could have happened... did.

Hello sell it on gunbroker.com it is like ebay but for guns you get payed before it leaves your hands and it is easy,very easy. But I have a question for you does your shotgun say military finish or does it have the hunting scene or both. I have posted on this sight looking for answers to when by serial number does it change from hunting scene to military finish and could I have more of your serial number thanks Jeff B

Remington Year of Manufacture Codes maybe found on the barrel of your Remington rifle [or shotgun] on the left side, just forward of the receiver; the first letter of the Code is the month of manufacture, followed by one or two letters which are the year of manufacture. For shotguns with removable barrels, the code will be valid for the manufacture of the barrel; maybe for the receiver, as barrels do get switched around.

According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values", the coding continues as follows:

Month Codes: [first letter]
B - L - A - C - K - P - O - W - D - E - R - X
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12
