Did all 721's come set up for a receiver sight?
I see some with the holes in the left ring but no wood relieved for the slide.

I believe the receivers were all tapped for the receiver site, but the wood had to be removed by the installer.

Thanks 600, do you know if they were D&T for scopes from the factory?

Hey Recoil
Not all were from the factory. I remember strange mounts I saw 20 years ago for the 721 but don't know how they mounted without drilling and tapping the front of the receiver. Later years towards the 700 were drilled and tapped front and rear for bases that are the same for the 721 and 700.

i have a march 1948 721 rem., the barrel code is tt, the rear reciever is not tapped, and the serial number is in the bolt lug race way on the left inside of the reciever. the front reciever ring is tapped. i think by july or aug. 1948 they all were tapped for a scope, front and rear. the mounts i have seen had the rear base on the front reciever ring and the front base that fit into the rear sight dovetail. the other had the front base on the front reciever ring and the rear fit on the two reciever sight holes on the left rear side of the action for the side mounted peep sight. eastbank.
