I have two rifles that I would like some info on. The first is a 700LH in 30-06, I am including pic's to show the rifle and date stamp, based on what is posted for date identification I'm stumped cause based on the date stamp I cannot ID the first letter.
Second is a 581LH with a date stamp of C S I take this as being made in 1969?

23 views, and everyone is stumped?? Come on give a guy a hand, I don't want to know value, and I'm not trying to sell, just want to know when she was made.
Your 700 was made in 1983. Your are correct on the 581. Your title is not very model specific so you are going to have everyone open it. Not everyone is interested in these paticular models so there knowledge maybe in differant areas so it may sometimes take more views by more people from time to time. Sorry for the delay I hope this answeres your question.
Yes it does, Thanks for the help! I've had the 581 since the year it was made. It was my first rifle, and still shoots like it was made yesterday. The 700 I've had has been with me since 1991. I picked her up while I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, and she has accounted for a number of deer and hogs. I really don't think its possible to wear either of them out. The 581 has had ten's of thousands of .22 run down the bore, and the 700 has over 3K right now. I imagine both will go to my son after I'm gone so he can continue to enjoy these two fine peices of craftmanship.
