any info on the Remington 20 gauge Bankguards pistol?

Post by riversidesports »

Many years back I ended up with several pistol grips and one frame assembly for the Remington Bank Guards 20 gauge pistol. Story I received was that the parts came out of Bannermans and were left overs after they destroyed the entire production of these that Remington had manufactured on contract to a New York bank in the late 1880s Distruction occured in the late 30s when Bannermans aquirred them as surplus from the Banking firm.
The guns were built from standard military rolling block frames with a shortened tang and a rather well thought out pistol grip assembly very similar in execution to the later Ithica Auto Burgler series. Barrels were 10" in length in 20 gauge. Anyone have any information on these? I included a side view of the grip itself. Those are walnut slabs over a custom bronze subframe, all extremely high quality workmanship.
thanks in advance
