Hi all, well I finally located a decent 14 1/2 and was wondering what would be good to shoot out of it. I do reload and was wondering if jacketed bullets would be OK to use? I've never loaded lead bullets before and if that's recommended, I'd appreciate some tips.
Thanks!!
Feeding a 44-40 model 14 1/2???

I don't have one, nor shoot the 44-40, but I'm pretty sure the 14 1/2 is intended to shoot anything (jacketed or lead). The only factory loads, until the cowboy shooting revolution about 15 years ago, was jacketed softpoints. Now there are lots of factory loaded lead ammo out there, too.
Both will be fine. You will probably want gas checks on the lead bullets to prevent leading your bore with higher velocity loads.
