Rem 20 GA LW

I have a Remington Model 1100LW 20 ga serial mxxxxxxk this gun will only accept LT barrels and I have owned it since 1978 and have shot thousands of rounds using a LT skeet barrel and LT modified barrel The LT barrels have the 3 3/8' extenders. Is this a unusual gun or were there 20GA LW's that were made to accept the LT barrels without modification.
