Late 12C

Post by 22long »

I have a 12C with ser.#83810X; bbl. code "BE" (Jan 1936). Nothing unusual except the serial # is way beyond the 831XXX range indicated by any reference material I have access to. Anybody out there have any feedback or info?

831xxx is as far as Remington records went. I have a couple with higher serial no.s as well. Not unussual.

I have a 12-A serial #832,17X that was assembled in October 1936, one month after the M/121 was introduced. Rem must have been in mop-up production as early as January. They grabbed the nearest serial numbered receiver to make the gun. It may not be the lowest number in the box. This happened throughout production. That why the serial number on early guns is only a guideline on when the rifle was made. The barrel code is the key.
