Remington 760 Gamemaster 300 Savage

My father is giving me a Remington Model 760 300 savage that is in excellent condition. He says there is an "R" after the 760. The serial number is 286959 and on the barrell it's stamped "Others Pending". It also has a Weaver scope on it. Did they make a 760R? Is the rifle made in the 50's? What is the approximate value?
