I've had a speedmaster 552 since I can remember. It was probably the first rifle I ever shot. I've kept that rifle for about 30 years now without any mentionable problems. Until now. I have what I consider to be a unique problem. My 552 will fire a round, cycle the next round into the chamber, then FTF. Not only does it FTF, but I cannot work the bolt to the rear AT ALL!! I have to use a hammer or other object to literally knock the bolt handle to the rear. The mechanism will then cycle easily. I can cycle an entire tube of rounds through it without a problem, but if I fire it, the bolt locks forward. I'm an amateur gunsmith, so I've done the simple things (thorough cleaning, polishing the parts, different types and brands of ammo, etc.) I've never heard of a rifle doing this before. I see nothing mechanically wrong, but obviously there is. I'd rather fix the problem myself, since a trip to a Remington repair shop will cost more than the weapon is worth (except sentimentally). I'm sure it'll take a pro to fix this, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
And hello to all. This is my first post.
