Model 12 dating assistance?

Hello, I am a new member and like many whose posts I have read, I am looking for assistance in finding information about my Model 12 rifle.

The serial number is 3089XX.

I don't know much else about the barrel markings, as it is currently in the possession of a friend of mine who is cleaning it and attempting to return it to working order. He is a trained gunsmith and is generously fixing it up because he likes gunsmithing, but it is not his trade.

I did not make note of the barrel markings, and in fact some of them could not be seen because of the poor condition of the rifle. It was found wedged between a home-made storage shelf and the wall of a storage closet in a building I bought.

After it is cleaned up I will check for other markings. I want to see if I can re-create the history of the gun, as the building I bought has been both a bank (pre-1962) and a lawyer's office (since 1962).

Thanks very much for the help. I did not expect it to be quite to old.

My friend tells me the barrel is pretty much destroyed on the inside due to corrosive primer use.

We'll see. I hope to find out more about it from the building's former owner.
