Not sure what the designation was, but Remington did make a 12 gauge semi-automatic for Monkey Ward that was a rebadged 878. The 878 was the second gas-operated shotgun Remington made. The first was the Model 58, and the 1100 followed shortly after 878. It's my understanding that the 878 shared a number of parts with the 870 pump. I had an 878 with two barrels. Have never seen another one. The 878 was a lower-priced gun compared to the 58, and typically had plain wood, and a plain barrel. The 878 did not have any receiver engraving, but if this is the same gun, Remington may have dressed ip up a bit for M/W
